YOUR CONSULTATION

What Happens at Your ENT Visit

Most patients leave their first visit knowing what is causing their symptoms and what the next step is.

  1. 1

    Tell her your symptoms

When they started, whether they come and go, and what you have already tried. Bring past reports, scans, hearing tests and a list of your medicines.

  2. 2

    Get examined

Dr Yasmin looks inside the ear, nose and throat, often with an endoscope that shows the image on screen so you see what she sees.

  3. 3

    Leave with a plan

Medicine, a test or a procedure, explained with the expected benefit, risks, recovery time and estimated cost before you decide.

Book Your Appointment

WhatsApp the clinic with three things: your main symptom, whether the patient is an adult or child, and two preferred dates. The team replies with an available slot and the consultation fee.

For children, note any snoring, mouth breathing, repeated ear infections or hearing worries, and bring their health record book.

Anxious about ENT procedures? Tell the clinic when you book. Dr Yasmin is a certified relaxation facilitator and takes nervous patients, adults and children, through every step at their own pace.

SERVING PATIENTS ACROSS SARAWAK

ENT Specialist for Patients from Kuching, Miri, Sibu and All of Sarawak

Bintulu sits in the middle of Sarawak, so many of Dr Yasmin's patients travel in from other towns for an ENT opinion, endoscopy or surgery. You can send your reports on WhatsApp first, and the clinic will tell you whether a visit is needed and how long to plan for.

From Miri

About 3 to 4 hours by road along the coastal highway, or a short flight from Miri Airport to Bintulu. If only a consultation is needed, most patients from Miri can return the same day.

From Sibu and Mukah

Sibu is about 3 to 4 hours by road and Mukah about 2 to 3 hours. Book a morning slot so you can travel home the same day if no procedure is needed.

From Kuching

About 1 hour by flight from Kuching International Airport to Bintulu Airport, which is a short drive from Kemena Pacific Hospital. Plan for an overnight stay if tests or a procedure may be needed. Dr Yasmin is originally from Kuching and worked as an ENT specialist there from 2018 to 2022.

From other parts of Sarawak

Patients from Kapit, Belaga, Tatau, Sebauh, Niah, Limbang and other towns are welcome. WhatsApp the clinic with your town and symptoms and the team will help you plan the trip.

TRAVELLING FOR ENT CARE

Seeing an ENT Specialist in Sarawak from Brunei or Indonesia

You can send your reports on WhatsApp before you travel. The clinic tells you whether a visit is needed, how long to plan for and the estimated fees, so you only make the trip once.

Patients from Brunei

Drive through the Sungai Tujoh border to Miri, then continue to Bintulu by road (about 3 to 4 hours) or take a short flight from Miri. Plan for at least two days if tests or a minor procedure may be needed, and longer if surgery is planned. Bring your passport, previous reports and scan discs.

Patients from Indonesia

Patients from West Kalimantan usually cross at Entikong to Kuching, then fly to Bintulu in about an hour. Dr Yasmin speaks fluent Bahasa Indonesia and studied medicine at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, so you can explain your symptoms in your own language. Send your reports on WhatsApp first so she can advise whether the visit is worth the journey. Bring your passport, reports and a list of your medicines.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

ENT Questions Patients in Sarawak Ask

Which ENT specialist sees patients at Kemena Pacific Hospital Bintulu?

Dr Nurhani Yasmin Abdul Rahman is a resident ENT specialist at Kemena Pacific Hospital (formerly Columbia Asia Hospital Bintulu). She sees adults and children at Clinic/Suite 15, Tanjung Kidurong.

I live in Miri. Can I see Dr Yasmin in Bintulu?

Yes. Bintulu is about 3 to 4 hours from Miri by road, or a short flight. Send your reports on WhatsApp first and the clinic will advise whether a same day visit is enough.

I live in Kuching or Sibu. Is it worth travelling to Bintulu for an ENT specialist?

Yes, especially if you need a specialist opinion, an endoscopy or surgery planned. Send your reports on WhatsApp first so you only travel when needed. The flight from Kuching is about 1 hour; Sibu is about 3 to 4 hours by road.

Does Dr Yasmin see children?

Yes. She treats children for ear infections, glue ear, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, snoring and hearing problems.

Do I need a referral letter to see an ENT specialist?

No referral is needed to book directly. If you have one from your GP or a previous doctor, bring it with your reports.

When should I see an ENT specialist instead of a GP?

See an ENT specialist if symptoms last more than a few weeks or keep coming back: a blocked nose for 12 weeks, hoarseness for three weeks, repeated tonsillitis, sudden hearing loss or a neck lump that does not go away.

Is snoring something an ENT specialist treats?

Yes. Loud snoring with pauses in breathing, choking at night or daytime tiredness can point to sleep apnoea. Dr Yasmin checks the nose and throat for blockages and advises on treatment.

When does a child need tonsil removal?

It is usually considered after repeated tonsillitis in a year, or when large tonsils cause snoring and pauses in breathing at night. Dr Yasmin assesses each child before recommending surgery.

Will I need tests or surgery at my first visit?

Usually not. Most first visits are a consultation and examination. Some tests, like a nasal endoscopy, can be done the same day; surgery is always planned separately.

How do I book an appointment?

WhatsApp the clinic with your symptom, the patient's age and preferred dates. The team confirms a slot and the consultation fee.

Can patients from Brunei or Indonesia see Dr Yasmin?

Yes. Send your reports on WhatsApp before travelling and the clinic will advise how long to plan for and the estimated fees.

What does Dr Yasmin specialise in?

She is a consultant ENT surgeon with a special interest in nose allergies and sinus disease. She performs endoscopic sinus surgery and septal and turbinate surgery, and also treats ear, throat, snoring and voice problems in adults and children.

What are Dr Yasmin's qualifications?

Does Dr Yasmin speak Bahasa Indonesia?
